Nevermind 20th Anniversary

I am having a dilemma right now about whether or not to buy the 20th anniversary "Nevermind" reissue. I obviously already own and love the game changing Nevermind, but this one will include early editions of "Lithium" and "In Bloom" recorded in a studio in Wisconsin before Nirvana was Nirvana.  Apparently the reissue will also include rehearsals of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" recorded on Cobian's boombox.  The question is do I need all this?  One thing, many of the recording are sans David Grohl.  At the time of the Wisconsin recordings Chad Channing was still the drummer.  But Grohl was still pretty involved with putting this all together.  So what do you think?  Is it worth the money?

Songs of Summer 2011

As the official last weekend of summer arrives it got my thinking about the songs of summer 2011. Why is it that summer is the only season that always gets and official song? It's because windows are down and it's pumping out of cars? Maybe it's the outside dance parties that happen at beaches around the country. Whatever the reason, the summer is always seemed to be defined my some type of music.

The indisputable song that's haunts me this summer has to be "Party Rock Anthem" by LFMAO. I literally was telling friends how I can escape this song when I got into a cab and it started wafting through the speakers. I have heard this at clubs, weddings, restaurants, and of course bumping out of cars on the street. It's not even that I dislike the song, in fact I think it's hard to dislike it. It's been made for mass consumption. I don't think one can even make an arguments for another candidate. That being said here's what's going to be on my summer playlist for the 2011 Labor Day weekend...
